The picture above was taken at the NEC when Crufts
celebrated its 100th Anniverasary. Ken is the

Kathleen & Ken
Humphries started showing great danes in 1974 and Ken served
on the Midland & West of England GDC committee between 1981
and 1986. Edited the M&W Club's pedigree book in 1982, this
was the forerunner of the Club annual which other Clubs have
tried to copy. I rejoined the committee in 2000 as the
education officer, responsible for organising lectures and
seminars for trainee judges and arranging assessments for
those aspiring to progress to the top rung of the judging
ladder. I was elected to the position of secretary at the
2002 AGM. I handed this role over in September 2008 and was
elected President at the 2009 AGM.
I began judging
Danes in 1978 and judged my first championship show in 1988
at Three Counties Show. Since then I have awarded CCs in
Danes seven times in the K and three times overseas
(Australia, South Africa and Eire).
Kathleen also judged at championship level, her last
appointment, before succumbing to cancer in January 2009,
was WELKS in 2007. Her proudest appointment was judging the
Dane of the Year Show in 2005.
