Ken’s CV
Ken is the President of Midland & West of
England GDC and a Vice-Chairman of National Working & Pastoral
Breeds DS. Passed by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates
in Great Danes and on the Judging A3-list of The Estrela Mountain
Dog Club. Available for lectures on Great Danes, and lectures on
judging, stewarding, show training and KC regulations.
I judged the Estrela Mountain Dog Club
show in 2002 and judged them again at Bournemouth CS in 2003, South
Wales Kennel Association in 2005, Paignton in 2007 and WELKS in
2009.
Future judging appointments include St Mellons in August in 2010 and
in Australia at The Great Dane Club of Victoria Inc’s 65th
Anniversary Championship Show in 2011..
I am one of the
Club's representatives on the Dane of the Year Committee and on the
Great Dane Breed Council.
I am also
Vice-President of Stratford on Avon CS, having been show manager
from 1984 to 1990 and chairman from 1989 to 2000. I was previously
on the committee of the City of Birmingham Canine Association and
Alcester Dog Training Club, where I was principle trainer for
several years.
I started running
and lecturing on the courses for novice stewards in 1990 and the
judge’s course in 1991. This has now changed to a two-day judging
course to cover all KC requirements to prepare novice judges for
their early judging career and for the official KC seminars.
In 1994 I gave a
lecture on Great Danes to the student judges studying for the
Working Group (FCI Group 2) certificate of the South Australian
Canine Association.
In 1999 I lectured on Danes to about 80 non-specialist judges at the
National Working Breeds judging seminar.
Began lecturing at
other breed club seminars when the KC laid down its directive on
training. So far I have spoken at seminars held by the Australian
Shepherd Club, South Wales Pekingese, Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Club of South Wales, Redditch CS, South Western Afghan Hound Club,
Joint Great Dane Clubs’ Training Day and the Welsh Doberman Club.
I was show manager for the Midland & West of England GDC Colour
Format Open Show for several years up to 1999.
